She was also known as Janet Forbes.3 After her marriage, Jean Forbes was styled as Countess of Atholl after May 1542.1 From after May 1542, her married name became Stewart. From after 17 November 1545, her married name became Hay.1 From before 17 January 1549/50, her married name became Leslie.1

He succeeded as the 4th Earl of Atholl [S., c. 1457] circa 1542.2 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) He succeeded as the 4th Earl of Huntly [S., 1445] on 21 January 1523/24.2 He held the office of Lord Chancellor [Scotland] between 1546 and 1549.2 He was awarded the Knight, Order of St. Michael of France in 1548.2 He was created 1st Earl of Moray [Scotland] on 13 February 1548/49.2 He held the office of Lieutenant-General of the North.2 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) [Scotland]2 He held the office of Lord Chancellor [Scotland] from 1561 to 1562.2 On 22 October 1562 at Corriche, ScotlandG, he was taken prisoner after rebelling.2 On 28 May 1563 his titles were forfeited.2
