Sir John Kennedy of Dunure1 
He was granted charters by King David II confirming the lands of Castlys and Stair, Kilmore, all in Ayrshire.1 In 1370 he acquired the Barony of Dalrymple from Marjorie de Montgomerie.1 On 29 November 1371 he founded a chapel at the parish church of Mayboyl, and endowed it for teh support of three chaplains.2 He lived at Dunure, Ayrshire, ScotlandG.1

Bernard Marmaduke Fitzalan-Howard, 16th Duke of Norfolk was born on 30 May 1908.1 He was the son of Henry Fitzalan-Howard, 15th Duke of Norfolk and Gwendoline Mary Herries, Lady Herries of Terregles.1 He married Hon. Lavinia Mary Strutt, daughter of Algernon Henry Strutt, 3rd Baron Belper and Hon. Eva Isabel Marion Bruce, on 27 January 1937.1 He died on 30 January 1975 at age 66.3
He succeeded as the 11th Earl Marshal, of England [E., 1672] on 11 February 1917.4 He succeeded as the Baron Maltravers [E., 1627] on 11 February 1917.4 He succeeded as the 14th Earl of Norfolk [E., 1644] on 11 February 1917.4 He succeeded as the 16th Duke of Norfolk [E., 1483] on 11 February 1917.4 He succeeded as the 16th Earl of Surrey [E., 1483] on 11 February 1917.4 He was educated at The Oratory School, Reading, Berkshire, England.5 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the Royal Horse Guards.4 He held the office of Mayor of Arundel in 1935.4 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) in 1936.4 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for West Sussex in 1936.4 He was appointed Knight, Order of the Garter (K.G.) in 1937.4 He fought in the Second World War in 1940, in France.4 He was Joint Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture between February 1941 and July 1945.4 He gained the rank of Major in the 4th Battalion, Royal Sussex Regiment (TA.)4 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Sussex between 1945 and 1949.4 He succeeded as the 13th Lord Herries of Terregles [S., 1490] on 28 August 1945.1 He was appointed Knight Grand Cross, Royal Victorian Order (G.C.V.O.) in 1946.4 He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Sussex between 1949 and 1974.4 He was awarded the Royal Victoria Chain in 1953.4 He was president of the AA in 1961.4 He was manager of the English Cricket Team on tour of Australia and New Zealand between 1962 and 1963.4 He held the office of Elder Brother, Trinity House in 1965.4 He was appointed Knight Grand Cross, Order of the British Empire (G.B.E.) in 1968.4 He was awarded the Territorial Decoration (T.D.) in 1969.4 He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of West Sussex in 1974.4
