     Sir John Maxwell of Calderwood, Dryps and Netherpollok is the son of Sir Aymer de Maxwell and Mary de Mearns.²
     He held the office of Governor of Dumbarton Castle.¹

     Sir Robert Maxwell of Pollok was the son of Sir John Maxwell of Calderwood, Dryps and Netherpollok.²

     Elizabeth Denniston is the daughter of Sir Robert Denniston of Denniston.¹ She married Sir Robert Maxwell of Calderwood, son of Sir John Maxwell of Pollok and Elizabeth de Lindsay, in 1402.¹
     From 1402, her married name became Maxwell.¹

     He was ancestor in the 7th generation of John Maxwell, who sold Aikenhead in 1611.¹
