Robert Maxwell, 2nd Lord Maxwell was the son of Herbert Maxwell, 1st Lord Maxwell and unknown daughter Herries.2 He married Janet Forrester, daughter of Sir John Forrester, 2nd of Corstorphine and Jean Sinclair, from 13 January 1424/25 to 4 February 1424/25.3 He died between 22 April 1485 and 29 April 1486.1
