He was given the name of Hector John Graham at birth.1 On 26 November 1825 his name was legally changed to Hector John Graham-Toler by Royal Licence.1 He held the office of High Sheriff of King’s County in 1835.1 He succeeded as the 3rd Earl of Norbury [I., 1827] on 3 January 1839.1 He succeeded as the 3rd Viscount Glandine, of Glandine, King’s County [I., 1827] on 3 January 1839.1 He succeeded as the 4th Baron Norbury of Ballycrenode, co. Tipperary [I., 1800] on 3 January 1839.1 He succeeded as the 4th Baron Norwood of Knockalton, co. Tipperary [I., 1797] on 3 January 1839.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of King’s County.1

Thomas Thynne, 1st Viscount Weymouth1

Thomas Thynne, 1st Viscount Weymouth was born in 1640.1 He was the son of Sir Henry Frederick Thynne, 1st Bt. and Hon. Mary Coventry.1 He married Frances Finch, daughter of Heneage Finch, 3rd Earl of Winchilsea and Lady Mary Seymour, before 1672/73.3 He died on 28 July 1714 at London, EnglandG, without surviving male issue.3 He was buried after 10 August 1714 at Longbridge Deverill, Wiltshire, EnglandG.3 His will (dated 4 November 1709) was proven (by probate) on 4 August 1714.3
He was educated at Kingston-upon-Thames Grammar School, Kingston-upon-Thames, Surrey, EnglandG.1 He matriculated at Christ Church, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG, on 21 April 1657.1 He was appointed Fellow, Royal Society (F.R.S.) on 23 November 1664.4 He held the office of Envoy to Sweden between November 1666 and April 1669.4 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for the University of Oxford between 1674 and 1679.4 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Tamworth between 1679 and 1681.4 He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet Thynne, of Kempsford, co. Gloucester [E., 1641] on 6 March 1679/80.4 He held the office of High Steward of Tamworth on 31 December 1681.4 He was created 1st Baron Thynne of Wermister, co. Wilts [England] on 11 December 1682.4 He was created 1st Viscount Weymouth, co. Dorset [England] on 11 December 1682, with a special remainder to his two brothers, James and Henry Frederick.4 On 13 December 1688 he carried an invitation to the Prince of Orange at Henley on Thames, along with the Earl of Pembroke, after the flight of King James II.4 He held the office of First Lord of Trade and Foreign Plantations between 30 May 1702 and April 1707.4 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) on 18 June 1702.3 In May 1707 he was relieved of the role of Privy Counsellor.3 He held the office of Warden of the Forest of Dean in 1712.3 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) on 8 March 1711/12.3
Lord Dartmouth wrote that “Lord Weymouth was a weak , proud man, with a vast estate… He was very liberal to non-jurors, though he always took the oaths himself; which occassioned his house being constantly full of people of that sort, who cried him up for a very religious man; which pleased him extremely, having affected to be thought so all his life; which the companions of his youth would by no means allow.”3 He has an extensive biographical entry in the Dictionary of National Biography.5
