William Pulteney, Viscount Pulteney was born in 1731. He was the son of William Pulteney, 1st and last Earl of Bath and Anna Maria Gumley.1 He died on 12 February 1763 at Madrid, SpainG, unmarried.1 He was buried on 21 April 1763 at Westminster Abbey, Westminster, London, EnglandG.3 His will (dated 29 March 1762) was proven (by probate) on 1 June 1763.1
He was styled as Viscount Pulteney.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Whig) for Old Sarum between 1754 and 1761.3 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in 1759 in the British Army.3 He held the office of a Lord of the Bedchamber between 1760 and 1763.3 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Whig) for Westminster between 1761 and 1763.3 He held the office of Aide-de-Camp to the King between January 1763 and February 1763.3

Henrietta Laura Pulteney, Countess of Bath was born on 26 December 1766.3 She was the daughter of Sir William Pulteney, 1st/5th Bt. and Frances Pulteney.1 She was baptised on 29 January 1767 at St. James’s, Westminster, London, EnglandG.3 She married General Rt. Hon. Sir James Murray-Pulteney of Dunerne, 7th Bt., son of Sir Robert Murray of Dunerne, 6th Bt. and Hon. Janet Murray, on 24 July 1794 at Bath House, Piccadilly, London, EnglandG.3 She died on 14 July 1808 at age 41 at Brighton, Sussex, EnglandG, without issue.4 She was buried on 28 July 1808 at Westminster Abbey, Westminster, London, EnglandG.4 Her will was proven (by probate) in August 1808, at nearly £600,000.4
She was given the name of Henrietta Laura Johnstone at birth.3 In 1767 her name was legally changed to Henrietta Laura Pulteney.3 She was created 1st Baroness of Bath, Somerset [G.B.] on 26 July 1792, suo jure.3 She was created 1st Countess of Bath, Somerset [U.K.] on 26 October 1803, suo jure.3
On her death, her titles became extinct.4

General Rt. Hon. Sir James Murray-Pulteney of Dunerne, 7th Bt.1 
He was given the name of James Murray at birth.1 He was commissioned in 1771, in the service of the British Army.3 He succeeded as the 7th Baronet Murray, of Dunerne, co. Fife [N.S., 1630] on 21 September 1771.2 He fought in the American War of Independence in 1775.3 He fought in the Capture of St. Lucia in 1778.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Weymouth between 1790 and 1811. He was Adjutant-General of the British forces in Flanders between 1793 and 1794. He gained the rank of Colonel in 1794 in the 18th Foot.1 On 24 July 1794 his name was legally changed to James Murray-Pulteney.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-General in 1799. He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) in 1807.2 He held the office of Secretary at War between 1807 and 1809.1 In 1808 he enjoyed the vast Pulteney estates for life, worth about £50,000 per year.4
