John Macdonald, 11th Earl of Ross1 
He held the office of Warden of the Marches between 1449 and 1460.2 He succeeded as the 11th Earl of Ross on 8 May 1449.2 In 1461 he negotiated a treaty with England as if he were an independent sovereign.2 On 1 December 1475 his life and lands were forfeited by the Scottish Parliament, after he launched an attack on Arran, Bute, Inverness and Nairn, in an alliance with King Edward IV of England.2 He was created 1st Lord of the Isles [Scotland] on 10 July 1476.2
