He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) [Scotland]1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) in 1707.1 He held the office of Sheriff of Ross between 1715 and 1722.1 He fought in the Battle of Inverness on 12 November 1715, which he recaptured for King George I.1
