(Unionist) for Birmingham, King’s Norton Division between 1918 and 1924.1 He was registered as a Member, Institute of Mechanical Engineers (M.I.Mech.E.)1 He gained the rank of Honorary Colonel in the The Worcestershire Regiment (Territorial Army.)1 He was created 1st Baron Austin, of Longbridge, in the City of Birmingham [U.K.] on 16 July 1936.1 He was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Law (LL.D.) by Birmingham University, Birmingham, Warwickshire, EnglandG, in 1937.1
