Sir John Swinton, 7th of Kimmerghame was born on 21 April 1925.¹ He was the son of Brigadier Alan Henry Campbell Swinton, 6th of Kimmerghame and Mariora Beatrice Evelyn Rochfort Alers-Hankey.¹ He married Judith Balfour Killen, daughter of Harold Killen, on 26 August 1954.¹ He died on 4 October 2018 at age 93.²
     He was educated at Harrow School, Harrow, London, England.¹ He fought in the Second World War between 1943 and 1945, in North-West Europe, and was wounded twice.¹ He fought in the Malayan Emergency between 1948 and 1951.¹ He was Aide-de-Camp to the Governor-General of Australia between 1953 and 1954.¹ He was admitted to Royal Company of Archers in 1954.¹ He lived at Kimmerghame, Duns, Berwickshire, Scotland^G.³ He was appointed Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 1969.³ He was appointed Knight Commander, Royal Victorian Order (K.C.V.O.) in 1979.³ He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Berwickshire between 1980 and 1989.³ He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Berwickshire in 1989.¹ He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Berwickshire between 1989 and 2000.¹

     Judith Balfour Killen was born on 10 February 1929 at Australia. She was the daughter of Harold Killen.¹ She married Maj.-Gen. Sir John Swinton, 7th of Kimmerghame, son of Brigadier Alan Henry Campbell Swinton, 6th of Kimmerghame and Mariora Beatrice Evelyn Rochfort Alers-Hankey, on 26 August 1954.¹ She died on 24 October 2012 at age 83.²
     From 26 August 1954, her married name became Swinton.¹

     Reverend Rowland Berkeley was born in 1742 at Cotheridge, Worcestershire, England^G.² He was the son of Reverend Lucy Berkeley and Jane Coxe.¹ He married Elizabeth Wathen, daughter of John Wathen.¹ He died on 1 July 1814 at All Saints, Writtle, Essex, England^G.²

     Elizabeth Wathen is the daughter of John Wathen.¹ She married Reverend Rowland Berkeley, son of Reverend Lucy Berkeley and Jane Coxe.¹
     Her married name became Berkeley.²

     Reverend John Rowland Berkeley was baptised on 22 December 1781.² He was the son of Reverend Rowland Berkeley and Elizabeth Wathen.¹ He died in 1850, unmarried.²

     William Berkeley was baptised on 18 June 1784 at Writtle, Essex, England^G.^2,3 He was the son of Reverend Rowland Berkeley and Elizabeth Wathen.¹ He married Lucy Frederica Comyns, daughter of John Richard Comyns, on 12 April 1809 at St. Pancras, London, England^G.^2,3 He died on 13 November 1869 at age 85.² He was buried at St. Leonard’s, Cotheridge, Worcestershire, England^G.³

     Charles Berkeley was born in 1795.¹ He was the son of Reverend Rowland Berkeley and Elizabeth Wathen.¹ He married Susan Clarke, daughter of Thomas Clarke, on 13 October 1829.¹ He died on 8 February 1869.¹
