Lt.-Col. Gerald Edward Coke was born on 25 October 1907 at London, England.3,2 He was the son of Major Hon. Sir John Spencer Coke and Hon. Dorothy Olive Levy-Lawson.3 He married Patricia Cadogan, daughter of Rt. Hon. Sir Alexander George Montagu Cadogan and Lady Theodosia Louisa Augusta Acheson, on 2 September 1939.1 He died on 9 January 1990 at age 82 at Alton, Hampshire, England.3,2
He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, EnglandG.3 He was educated at New College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG.3 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Scots Guards.1 He fought in the Second World War.3 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Hampshire in 1952.3 He was Governor of the BBC between 1961 and 1966.3 He was appointed Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in 1967.3
