     Colonel Hon. William David Arbuthnott was born on 5 November 1927.¹ He is the son of Maj.-Gen. Robert Keith Arbuthnott, 15th Viscount Arbuthnott and Ursula Collingwood.¹ He married Sonja Mary Thomson, daughter of Charles Newbigging Thomson, on 30 April 1955.¹
     Colonel Hon. William David Arbuthnott usually went by his middle name of David.¹ He was educated at Fettes School, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland^G.¹ He was educated at Royal Military College, Sandhurst, Berkshire, England^G.¹ He fought in the Korean War between 1952 and 1953.¹ He fought in the Kenyan Campaign between 1953 and 1955.¹ He fought in the unrest in Northern Ireland in 1974, where he was mentioned in despatches.¹ He gained the rank of Colonel in the Black Watch.¹ He lived in 1999 at The Old Manse, Trochry, Dunkeld, Perthshire, Scotland^G.¹

     Sonja Mary Thomson is the daughter of Charles Newbigging Thomson.¹ She married Colonel Hon. William David Arbuthnott, son of Maj.-Gen. Robert Keith Arbuthnott, 15th Viscount Arbuthnott and Ursula Collingwood, on 30 April 1955.¹
     She was awarded the British Empire Medal (B.E.M.)² From 30 April 1955, her married name became Arbuthnott.¹

     Charles Newbigging Thomson held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.)¹ He lived at The Garden House, Panmure, Carnoustie, Angus, Scotland^G.¹ He was awarded the Territorial Decoration (T.D.)¹ He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.)¹ He was appointed Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.)¹

     Charles Robert Arbuthnott was born on 4 October 1956.¹ He is the son of Colonel Hon. William David Arbuthnott and Sonja Mary Thomson.¹ He married Patricia Diane Brooke, daughter of Barrington Brooke, on 23 May 1987.¹
     He was educated at Fettes School, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland^G.¹ He was educated at Silsoe College, Cranfield Institute of Technology, Silsoe, Bedfordshire, England^G.¹ He graduated from Carnfield Institute of Technology^G with a Bachelor of Science, Engineering (B.Sc.)¹ He lived in 1999 at Harvieston Farmhouse, Dollar, Clackmannanshire, Scotland^G.¹

     Patricia Diane Brooke is the daughter of Barrington Brooke.¹ She married Charles Robert Arbuthnott, son of Colonel Hon. William David Arbuthnott and Sonja Mary Thomson, on 23 May 1987.¹
     From 23 May 1987, her married name became Arbuthnott.¹
