Mary O’Brien, Countess of Orkney was born on 4 September 1755.3 She was the daughter of Murrough O’Brien, 1st Marquess of Thomond and Mary O’Brien, Countess of Orkney.3 She married Hon. Thomas FitzMaurice, son of John Petty, 1st Earl of Shelburne and Mary FitzMaurice, on 21 December 1777.1 She died on 30 December 1831 at age 76.3
Her married name became FitzMaurice. She succeeded as the 4th Baroness Dechmont [S., 1696] on 10 May 1791.3 She succeeded as the 4th Countess of Orkney [S., 1696] on 10 May 1791.3 She succeeded as the 4th Viscountess Kirkwall [S., 1696] on 10 May 1791.3
