Lt.-Gen. Rt. Hon. Sir George Murray was born on 6 February 1772.3 He was the son of Sir William Murray of Ochtertyre, 5th Bt. and Augusta Mackenzie.2 He married Lady Louisa Paget, daughter of Henry Paget, 1st Earl of Uxbridge and Jane Champagné, after 1825.1 He died on 28 July 1846 at age 74.1
He gained the rank of Lieutenant-General in 1814, in Canada.2 He was Commander-in-Chief of the Ireland.2 He held the office of Governor of Fort George.3 He gained the rank of Colonel in the 1st Royals.3 He was appointed Knight Grand Cross, Order of the Bath (G.C.B.)1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.)1
