     Rosamond Best was the daughter of Reverend Francis Best.¹ She married Lt.-Col. George Hotham, son of General George Hotham and Diana Pennyman, on 29 June 1813.² She died on 5 September 1826.¹
     Her married name became Hotham.

     John Hotham was born on 29 January 1805.¹ He was the son of Lt.-Col. George Hotham and Caroline Gee.¹ He married, firstly, Maria Elizabeth Thompson, daughter of Henry Thompson, on 9 April 1842.¹ He married, secondly, Mary Anne Roundell, daughter of Reverend Danson Richardson Roundell and Hannah Foulis, on 11 January 1855.¹ He died on 11 February 1881 at age 76.¹
     He was educated at Addiscombe Military College, Addiscombe, London, England^G.¹ He gained the rank of Captain in the Bengal Horse Artillery.¹

     Maria Elizabeth Thompson was the daughter of Henry Thompson.¹ She married John Hotham, son of Lt.-Col. George Hotham and Caroline Gee, on 9 April 1842.¹ She died on 3 June 1853.¹
     Her married name became Hotham.

     Henry Thompson lived at Burton, Yorkshire, England^G.¹

     Margaret Milne-Home was the daughter of David Milne-Home of Wedderburn.¹ She married Admiral Sir Charles Frederick Hotham, son of John Hotham and Maria Elizabeth Thompson, on 29 February 1872.¹ She died on 25 May 1918.¹
     Her married name became Hotham.

     David Milne-Home of Wedderburn was born in 1805 at Inveresk, East Lothian, Scotland.² He was the son of Admiral Sir David Milne and Grace Purves.^2,3 He died in 1890.²
     He was given the name of David Milne at birth.² He was Secretary of the British Association of the Advancement of Science Earthquakes Committee between 1840 and 1845.² In 1841 he coined the word seismometer.² He was a geologist and metereologist.² He held the office of Advocate-Depute.² He was appointed Fellow, Royal Society of Edinburgh (F.R.S.E.)² He lived at Wedderburn, Scotland^G.

     John Beaumont Hotham was born on 15 September 1874.² He was the son of Admiral Sir Charles Frederick Hotham and Margaret Milne-Home.² He married Gladys Mary Wilson, daughter of Colonel John Gerald Wilson and Angelina Rose Geraldine O’Brien, on 15 August 1905.² He died on 29 December 1924 at age 50.²
     He graduated from Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)² He was Clerk of the Senate and Assistant Clerk of Parliament [Northern Ireland].² He lived at Milne Graden, Coldstream, Berwickshire, Scotland^G.¹

     Charlotte Juliana Jane Howard was born on 8 February 1809 at London, England.² She was the daughter of Lord Henry Thomas Howard-Molyneux-Howard and Elizabeth Long.^3,4 She was baptised on 5 April 1809 at St. James, Westminster, London, England.² She married James Wentworth Buller, son of James Buller and Anne Buller, on 5 October 1831.³ She died on 15 December 1855 at age 46.³
     From 5 October 1831, her married name became Buller.
