     Virginia Margaret Litchfield was born on 14 October 1945.¹ She is the daughter of Captain John Shirley Sandys Litchfield and Margaret Cecilia Portal.²

     Sophie Portal was born on 1 July 1910.¹ She was the daughter of Brig.-Gen. Sir Bertram Percy Portal and Hon. Margaret Louisa Littleton.² She died on 6 March 2006 at age 95.³
     She gained the rank of Junior Commander in the Auxiliary Territorial Service, during the Second World War.¹ She was appointed Member, Order of the British Empire (M.B.E.) in 1947.¹ She was awarded the Territorial Decoration (T.D.) in 1953.¹

     Angela Rose Emily Hotham was born on 7 March 1902.¹ She is the daughter of Brig.-Gen. John Hotham and Rose Florence Ward.¹ She married Brigadier Rintoul Edwrd George Carolin on 26 October 1939.¹
     From 26 October 1939, her married name became Carolin.¹

     Walter Robertson Hoare lived at Daneshill, Basingstoke, Hampshire, England.¹

     Brigadier Rintoul Edwrd George Carolin married Angela Rose Emily Hotham, daughter of Brig.-Gen. John Hotham and Rose Florence Ward, on 26 October 1939.¹
     He gained the rank of Brigadier in the Essex Regiment.¹

     Jean Hotham was the daughter of Admiral Sir Charles Frederick Hotham and Margaret Milne-Home.¹ She married Charles William Forbes, son of William Forbes and Edith Marion Hervey, on 16 September 1897.¹ She died on 5 September 1951.¹
     From 16 September 1897, her married name became Forbes.¹

     Admiral Sir Alan Geoffrey Hotham was born on 3 October 1876.² He was the son of Admiral Sir Charles Frederick Hotham and Margaret Milne-Home.² He died on 10 July 1965 at age 88, unmarried.²
     He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.) in 1923.² He held the office of Gentleman Usher of the Blue Rod, Order of St. Michael and St. George in 1934.² He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of St. Michael and St. George (K.C.M.G.) in 1938.²
