He was also known as Cecil Henry Law.2 He fought in the Afghan War between 1878 and 1879.1 He fought in the Boer War between 1899 and 1902, where he was mentioned in despatches.1 He gained the rank of Colonel in the Dorset Regiment.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Dorset.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.) in 1900.1 He succeeded as the 6th Baron Ellenborough, of Ellenborough, co. Cumberland [U.K., 1802] on 9 December 1915.2 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Dorset.1
