He was given the name of Gerald Normanby Dillon at birth.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the Oxford Militia.1 He lived at Mount Shannon, County Limerick, IrelandG.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for County Limerick.1 On 26 December 1873 his name was legally changed to Gerald Normanby FitzGibbon by Royal Licence.1 He sold Mount Shannon.3 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of County Limerick.1
