     John Maitland of Freugh was baptised on 19 April 1780 at Stoneykirk, Wigtownshire, ScotlandG.2 He was the son of Hon. Patrick Maitland and Jane Maitland.3 He married Jane Maxwell, daughter of Sir William Maxwell of Monreith, 4th Bt. and Katharine Blair, on 5 July 1803.1 He died on 20 May 1811 at age 31.1
     He lived at Balgreggan, Wigtownshire, ScotlandG.1
