     He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the Scots Guards.1

William Oliphant, 4th/9th Lord Oliphant1

     William Oliphant, 4th/9th Lord Oliphant was the son of Patrick Oliphant, 1st/6th Lord Oliphant and Mary Crichton.2 He married Marie Elinga after 1681 at Flanders, BelgiumG.1 He died on 27 December 1728 at Williamston, Gask, Perthshire, ScotlandG, without surviving male issue.1
     He was an active Jacobite.1 He succeeded as the 9th Lord Oliphant [S., 1464] on 14 January 1720/21.2 He succeeded as the 4th Lord Oliphant [S., 1633] on 14 January 1720/21.1

     Francis Oliphant, 5th/10th Lord Oliphant was the son of Francis Oliphant and Mary Redall.2 He married Mary Linley on 18 January 1746/47 at London, EnglandG.1 He died on 18 April 1748 at Islington, London, EnglandG, without issue.1
     He succeeded as the 5th Lord Oliphant [S., 1633] on 27 December 1728.1 He succeeded as the 10th Lord Oliphant [S., 1464] on 27 December 1728.2 On his death, his title of 1633 became extinct.1
