     Francis Sykes was baptised on 16 September 1682.¹ He was the son of William Sykes and Elizabeth Stephenson.² He married Martha Fearnley on 25 September 1707.¹ He died on 5 April 1766 at age 83.¹
     He lived at Thornhill, Yorkshire, England^G.¹

     Sir Francis Sykes, 1st Bt. was baptised on 25 February 1732.¹ He was the son of Francis Sykes and Martha Fearnley.³ He married, firstly, Catherine Ridley, daughter of John Ridley, on 7 February 1766.¹ He married, secondly, Hon. Elizabeth Monckton, daughter of William Monckton-Arundell, 2nd Viscount Galway and Elizabeth Villa-Real, in September 1774.¹ He died on 11 January 1804 at age 71.¹
     He was nabob and Chief Governor of Cossimbazaar, Bengal.¹ He purchased the Manor of Basildon, Berks, from the Countesses de Salis and of Sandwich.¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Shaftesbury between 1771 and 1775.¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Shaftesbury between 1780 and 1784.¹ He succeeded as the 1st Baronet Sykes, of Basildon, Berks [Great Britain] on 8 June 1781.¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Wallingford between 1784 and 1804.¹ He lived at Ackworth Park, England^G.¹

     Catherine Ridley was the daughter of John Ridley.² She married Sir Francis Sykes, 1st Bt., son of Francis Sykes and Martha Fearnley, on 7 February 1766.¹ She died on 30 December 1768.¹
     From 7 February 1766, her married name became Sykes.

     Sir Francis William Sykes, 2nd Bt. was born in 1767.¹ He was the son of Sir Francis Sykes, 1st Bt. and Catherine Ridley.² He married Mary Anne Henniker, daughter of Major Henniker and Mary Phoenix, on 10 November 1798.¹ He died on 7 March 1804.¹
     He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Wallingford between 1794 and 1796.¹ He gained the rank of Colonel in the Berkshire Militia.¹ He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet Sykes, of Basildon, Berks [G.B., 1781] on 11 January 1804.¹

     Janet Wigram was born on 8 January 1916.² She was the daughter of Reverend Gerrard Edmund Wigram and Maria Isména Mayne.^1,2 She married Hon. Valentine Henry Okes Herbert, son of Dennis Henry Herbert, 1st Baron Hemingford and Mary Graeme Bell, on 26 May 1956.¹ She died in 1982.²
     From 26 May 1956, her married name became Herbert.¹
