     Admiral Sir Edward Beckwith Ashmore was born on 11 December 1919.³ He was the son of Vice-Admiral Leslie Haliburton Ashmore and Tamara Vasilevna Schutt.³ He married Elizabeth Mary Doveton Sturdee, daughter of Rear-Admiral Sir Lionel Arthur Doveton Sturdee, 2nd Bt. and Dorothy Mary Mowbray Sayer, on 11 December 1942.³ He died on 28 April 2016 at age 96.⁴
