Sir Jacob Astley, 16th Lord Hastings1 
He matriculated at Magdalen College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG, on 18 February 1817.1 He succeeded as the 6th Baronet Astley, of Hill Morton, co. Warwick [E., 1660] on 28 April 1817.1 He was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Civil Law (D.C.L.) by Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG, on 14 June 1817.1 He held the office of High Sheriff of Norfolk from 1821 to 1822.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for West Norfolk between 1832 and 1837.1 He succeeded as the 16th Lord Hastings [E., 1295] on 18 May 1841, after the termination of its abeyance by writ.2
