     Hon. Philippa Merryn Thesiger was born on 27 July 1939.¹ She is the daughter of Andrew Charles Gerald Thesiger, 2nd Viscount Chelmsford and Gillian Lubbock.²

     Frederick Augustus Thesiger, 2nd Baron Chelmsford of Chelmsford was born on 31 May 1827.¹ He was the son of Frederick Thesiger, 1st Baron Chelmsford of Chelmsford and Anna Maria Tinling.² He married Adria Fanny Heath, daughter of Maj.-Gen. John Coussamker Heath and Adria Emma Dun, on 1 January 1867 at Kurrachee, Scinde, India^G.³ He died on 9 April 1905 at age 77 at United Services Club, Pall Mall, London, England^G, from an aneurism while playing billiards.³ He was buried on 13 April 1905 at Brompton Cemetery, Brompton, London, England^G.³ His will was proven (by probate) on 24 May 1905, at over £68,000 gross and over £66,000 net.³
     He was educated between 1840 and 1844 at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England^G.⁴ He was commissioned in 1844, in the service of the Army.³ He gained the rank of Captain in 1850 in the Grenadier Guards.³ He fought in the Crimean War in 1854.¹ He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in 1858 in the 95th Foot.³ He fought in the Indian Mutiny.¹ He was Deputy Adjutant-General at Bombay in 1861.³ He gained the rank of Brevet Colonel in 1863.³ He fought in the Abyssinian War between 1867 and 1868.¹ He was Aide-de-Camp to HM Queen Victoria between 1868 and 1877.¹ He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.) on 14 August 1868.³ He was Adjutant-General to the Bombay army between 1869 and 1874.³ He gained the rank of Major-General in 1877.³ He fought in the Kaffir Wars in 1878, in command of the British forces.¹ He held the office of Lieutenant-Governor of the Cape of Good Hope between 1878 and 1879.³ He succeeded as the 2nd Baron Chelmsford of Chelmsford, co. Essex [U.K., 1858] on 5 October 1878.¹ He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the Bath (K.C.B.) on 11 November 1878.³ He fought in the Zulu War in 1879, in command of the British forces.¹ He was appointed Knight Grand Cross, Order of the Bath (G.C.B.) on 19 August 1879.³ He was Brigadier-General of the 1st Infantry Brigade.³ He held the office of Lieutenant of the Tower of London between 1884 and 1889.¹ He was Colonel of the Sherwood Foresters (formerly 45th and 95th Foot) between 1898 and 1900.³ He was Colonel of the 2nd Life Guards between 1900 and 1905.³ He was appointed Knight Grand Cross, Royal Victorian Order (G.C.V.O.) on 9 November 1902.³

     Adria Fanny Heath was born in 1846.¹ She was the daughter of Maj.-Gen. John Coussamker Heath and Adria Emma Dun.¹ She married Frederick Augustus Thesiger, 2nd Baron Chelmsford of Chelmsford, son of Frederick Thesiger, 1st Baron Chelmsford of Chelmsford and Anna Maria Tinling, on 1 January 1867 at Kurrachee, Scinde, India^G.² She died on 25 February 1926 at Onslow Square, London, England^G.^3,4 She was buried on 2 March 1926 at Brompton Cemetery, Brompton, London, England^G.⁴
     Her married name became Thesiger. After her marriage, Adria Fanny Heath was styled as Baroness Chelmsford of Chelmsford on 5 October 1878.

     Maj.-Gen. John Coussamker Heath was born in 1806.¹ He married Adria Emma Dun, daughter of General unknown Dun.¹ He died in 1867.¹
     He gained the rank of Major-General in the Bombay Army.²

     Hon. Percy Mansfield Thesiger was born on 7 November 1869.¹ He was the son of Frederick Augustus Thesiger, 2nd Baron Chelmsford of Chelmsford and Adria Fanny Heath.² He married Katherine Frances Wallace, daughter of Alexander Falconer Wallace of Candacraig, on 6 November 1900.¹ He died on 3 August 1959 at age 89.¹
     He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in despatches.¹ He gained the rank of Captain in the Royal East Kent Yeomanry.¹ He was appointed Member, Order of the British Empire (M.B.E.) in 1918.¹

     Katherine Frances Wallace was the daughter of Alexander Falconer Wallace of Candacraig.² She married Hon. Percy Mansfield Thesiger, son of Frederick Augustus Thesiger, 2nd Baron Chelmsford of Chelmsford and Adria Fanny Heath, on 6 November 1900.¹ She died on 16 August 1958.¹
     Her married name became Thesiger.

     Alexander Falconer Wallace of Candacraig lived at Strathdon, Aberdeenshire, Scotland^G.²

     Kathleen Mary Vigors was the daughter of Thomas Mercer Cliffe Vigors.² She married, firstly, Hon. Wilfred Gilbert Thesiger, son of Frederick Augustus Thesiger, 2nd Baron Chelmsford of Chelmsford and Adria Fanny Heath, on 21 August 1909.¹ She married, secondly, Reginald Basil Astley, son of Lt.-Col. Francis L’Estrange Astley and Rosalind Alicia Frankland, on 8 October 1931.¹ She died on 28 October 1973.²
     From 21 August 1909, her married name became Thesiger. She was appointed Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in 1920.¹ From 8 October 1931, her married name became Astley.

     Thomas Mercer Cliffe Vigors was born on 13 March 1853.² He was the son of Bartholomew Urban Vigors.³ He married Mary Louisa Helen Handcock, daughter of Lt.-Col. Hon. Robert French Handcock and Isabella Louisa Gordon, on 4 April 1877.⁴ He died on 30 January 1908 at age 54.⁴
     He lived at Burgage, County Carlow, Ireland^G.¹
