David Erskine, 9th Earl of Buchan1 
He succeeded as the 4th Lord Cardross [S., 1610] on 21 May 1693.1 He succeeded as the 9th Earl of Buchan [S., 1469] in 1695.1 He succeeded as the 9th Lord Auchterhouse [S., 1469] in 1695.1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) in 1697.2 He held the office of Governor of Blackness Castle between 1702 and 1707.2 He held the office of Governor of Blackness Castle between 1710 and 1714.2 He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Selkirkshire and Clackmannanshire between 1715 and 1734.2 He held the office of Representative Peer [Scotland] between 1715 and 1734.2 Due to his opposition to the Union, he was removed from all of his offices.4

Henry David Erskine, 10th Earl of Buchan was born on 17 April 1710.1 He was the son of David Erskine, 9th Earl of Buchan and Frances Fairfax.1 He married Agnes Steuart, daughter of Sir James Steuart, 1st Bt. and Ann Dalrymple, on 31 January 1739 at Lady Huntingdon’s Chapel, Bath, Somerset, EnglandG.1,3 He died on 1 December 1767 at age 57 at Walcot, Somerset, EnglandG.4 He was buried on 21 December 1767 at Holyrood Abbey, Edinburgh, Midlothian, ScotlandG.4
He was appointed Fellow, Royal Society (F.R.S.) on 10 January 1733/34.4 He succeeded as the 10th Earl of Buchan [S., 1469] on 14 October 1745.1 He succeeded as the 10th Lord Auchterhouse [S., 1469] on 14 October 1745.1 He succeeded as the 5th Lord Cardross [S., 1610] on 14 October 1745.1
