Thomas Erskine, 1st Baron Erskine of Restormel Castle was born on 10 January 1749/50 at Gray’s Close, Edinburgh, Midlothian, ScotlandG.3 He was the son of Henry David Erskine, 10th Earl of Buchan and Agnes Steuart.4 He married, firstly, Frances Moore, daughter of Daniel Moore, on 29 March 1770 at Gretna Green, Dumfries-shire, ScotlandG.5 He married, secondly, Sarah Buck on 12 October 1818 at Gretna Green, Dumfries-shire, ScotlandG.5 He and Sarah Buck were separated on 21 June 1821.4 He died on 17 November 1823 at age 73 at Almondell, West Lothian, ScotlandG, from inflammation of the lungs.5 He was buried at Uphall, West Lothian, ScotlandG.5
