     Samuel Long was born on 16 August 1746.¹ He was the son of Beeston Long and Sarah Cropp.¹ He married Lady Jane Maitland, daughter of James Maitland, 7th Earl of Lauderdale and Mary Turner Lombe, on 31 December 1787 at Walthamstow, Essex, England^G.¹ He died on 19 October 1807 at age 61 at Berkeley Square, London, England^G.¹

     Lady Jane Maitland was baptised on 4 June 1769 at Ratho, Midlothian, Scotland^G.² She was the daughter of James Maitland, 7th Earl of Lauderdale and Mary Turner Lombe.^3,1 She married, firstly, Samuel Long, son of Beeston Long and Sarah Cropp, on 31 December 1787 at Walthamstow, Essex, England^G.³ She married, secondly, General Sir William Houstoun of Calderhall, 1st Bt., son of Andrew Houstoun of Calderhaugh and Nellie Waddell, on 5 November 1808.¹ She died on 1 June 1833 at age 63 at Gibraltar^G.^3,4
     From 31 December 1787, her married name became Long.³ From 5 November 1808, her married name became Houstoun.¹

     Lady Louisa Emily Stanley was born on 1 June 1805 at Grosvenor Square, Westminster, London, England^G.² She was the daughter of Edward Smith-Stanley, 13th Earl of Derby and Charlotte Margaret Hornby.^1,2 She married Colonel Samuel Long, son of Samuel Long and Lady Jane Maitland, on 18 April 1825.¹ She died on 11 December 1825 at age 20 at France^G.¹
     From 18 April 1825, her married name became Long.¹

     Sydney Charlotte Anne Atherley was the daughter of Arthur Atherley and Lady Louise Kerr.² She married Colonel Samuel Long, son of Samuel Long and Lady Jane Maitland, on 19 November 1827 at Arundel, Sussex, England^G.¹ She died on 7 July 1852 at Bromley, Kent, England^G.¹
     From 19 November 1827, her married name became Long.¹

     Charles Carter Blake was the son of Charles Ignatius Blake.¹
     He graduated with a Doctor of Science (D.Sc.)¹

     Charles Ignatius Blake lived at Quintero, Chile^G.¹

     Emily Herbert was the daughter of Charles John Herbert and Louisa Middleton.² She married Colonel Samuel Long, son of Samuel Long and Lady Jane Maitland, on 28 February 1854 at Macroon, County Cork, Ireland^G.¹ She died on 24 April 1864.¹
     From 28 February 1854, her married name became Long.¹

     Harold Henry Blake was born on 1 July 1817.¹ He was the son of Henry Blake and Martha Louise Attersoll.¹ He died in November 1873 at age 56, unmarried.¹

     Venerable Charles Maitland Long was born on 16 August 1803 at Berkeley Square, London, England^G.¹ He was the son of Samuel Long and Lady Jane Maitland.¹ He married, firstly, Harriet Ellice on 6 October 1834 at St. George Hanover Square, London, England^G.¹ He married, secondly, Anna Maria Wigram, daughter of Sir Robert Wigram, 1st Bt. and Eleanor Watts, on 11 April 1839.¹ He died on 6 October 1875 at age 72 at London, England^G.¹

     Harriet Ellice married Venerable Charles Maitland Long, son of Samuel Long and Lady Jane Maitland, on 6 October 1834 at St. George Hanover Square, London, England^G.¹ She died on 3 June 1835 at Whitchurch, Shropshire, England^G.¹
     From 6 October 1834, her married name became Long.¹
