     He was educated at Winchester College, Winchester, Hampshire, England.² He fought in the Burma Campaign between 1891 and 1892.² He fought in the Boer War between 1899 and 1902, where he was mentioned in despatches twice.² He fought in the First World War, in France and Salonika, and was mentioned in despatches twice and wounded.² He was appointed Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in 1916.²

     Captain Bernard Long was baptised on 4 September 1872 at Hertford, Hertfordshire, England^G.^1,2 He was the son of Rear-Admiral Samuel Long and Alice Jane Wigram.¹ He died on 23 March 1946 at age 73, unmarried.²
     He gained the rank of Captain in the Royal Navy.² He lived at The Lea Vicarage, Great Missenden, Buckinghamshire, England.²

     From 5 September 1912, her married name became Hoare.¹

     Arthur Hervey Hoare was born in 1877 at St. George Hanover Square, London, England^G.¹ He married Anna Margaret Long, daughter of Rear-Admiral Samuel Long and Alice Jane Wigram, on 5 September 1912 at Catherington, Hampshire, England^G.^1,2 He died on 9 December 1953.²

     Mary Long was baptised on 12 April 1841 at Whitchurch, Shropshire, England^G.¹ She was the daughter of Venerable Charles Maitland Long and Anna Maria Wigram.¹ She died on 24 September 1855 at age 14.²
