     Sir Alexander Davidson Grierson of Lag, 9th Bt. was born on 30 November 1858 at Dumfries-shire, Scotland^G.^1,2 He was the son of Commander William Charles Grierson and Emma Sophia Comerford.¹ He married Fannie White, daughter of Major George White, on 7 December 1882.¹ He died on 1 April 1912 at age 53 at London, England^G.^3,2
     He succeeded as the 9th Baronet Grierson, of Lag, co. Dumfries [N.S., 1685] on 27 December 1879.¹ He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Dumfries-shire.³ He gained the rank of Major and Honorary Lieutenant-Colonel in the 3rd Battalion, King’s Own Scottish Borderers Militia.¹ He fought in the Boer War.²

     Fannie White was the daughter of Major George White.¹ She married Sir Alexander Davidson Grierson of Lag, 9th Bt., son of Commander William Charles Grierson and Emma Sophia Comerford, on 7 December 1882.¹ She died on 1 February 1941.²
     From 7 December 1882, her married name became Grierson.¹

     Major George White lived at Westcombe Park, Blackheath, Kent, England^G.¹

     John Grierson was born circa 1685.² He was the son of Sir Robert Grierson of Lag, 1st Bt. and Lady Henrietta Douglas.¹ He died on 23 February 1730, without issue.^3,2 He was buried on 25 February 1730 at Old Dunscore Churchyard, Dunscore, Dumfries-shire, Scotland^G.²
     He was an apothecary circa 1715 at Carlisle, Cumberland, England^G.⁴ In 1715 he was involved with his brother, James, during the 1715 Uprising.⁴ He was an apothecary at Carlisle, Cumberland, England^G.² He lived at Dalgoner, Scotland^G.¹

     Henrietta Grierson was born circa 1688.² She was the daughter of Sir Robert Grierson of Lag, 1st Bt. and Lady Henrietta Douglas.¹ A contract for the marriage of Henrietta Grierson and Sir Walter Laurie of Maxwelton, 3rd Bt. was signed on 1 April 1715.^1,2 She died in September 1718.²
     From 1 April 1715, her married name became Laurie.¹

     Sir Walter Laurie of Maxwelton, 3rd Bt. was born on 3 May 1684.² He was the son of Sir Robert Laurie of Maxwelton, 1st Bt. and Jean Riddell.³ He married, firstly, Jean Nisbet, daughter of Sir John Patrick Nisbet of Dean, in April 1708.³ He married by contract, secondly, Henrietta Grierson, daughter of Sir Robert Grierson of Lag, 1st Bt. and Lady Henrietta Douglas, on 1 April 1715.^1,2 He died on 23 November 1731 at age 47.³
     He succeeded as the 3rd Baronet Laurie, of Maxwelton, co. Dumfries [N.S., 1685] in 1702.³

     John Henry Gordon was the son of Isabella (?)² He married Margaret Elizabeth Grierson, daughter of Lt.-Col. William Grierson and Jane Beattie, on 21 April 1871.¹ He died on 14 February 1902.²

     Jane Beattie was born circa 1801.² She was the daughter of Thomas Beattie.¹ She married Lt.-Col. William Grierson, son of Sir Robert Grierson of Lag, 5th Bt. and Margaret Dalzell.¹ She died on 12 April 1853 at Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland^G.²
     Her married name became Grierson.¹

     Thomas Beattie lived at Crieve, Dumfries-shire, Scotland^G.¹
