He was educated at Charterhouse School, Godalming, Surrey, England.1 He graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, in 1932 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)2 He fought in the Second World War, where he was mentioned in despatches.2 He gained the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the Royal Artillery.2 He was appointed Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 1946.2 He graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, in 1950 with a Master of Arts (M.A.)2 He succeeded as the 3rd Baronet Jones, of Treeton, West Riding, co. York [U.K., 1919] on 5 December 1967.3
