Alfred Moritz Mond, 1st Baron Melchett was born on 23 October 1868.3 He was the son of Ludwig Mond and Frieda Löwenthal.4 He married Violet Florence Mabel Goetze, daughter of James Henry Goetze, on 16 June 1894.3 He died on 27 December 1930 at age 62.3
