Philip Cunliffe-Lister, 1st Earl of Swinton1 

Philip Cunliffe-Lister, 1st Earl of Swinton was born on 1 May 1884.1 He was the son of Lt.-Col. Yarburgh George Lloyd-Greame and Dora Letitia O’Brien. He married Mary Constance Boynton, daughter of Reverend Charles Ingram William Boynton and Hon. Mary Ewbank Cunliffe-Lister, on 5 September 1912.1 He died on 27 July 1972 at age 88.1
He was given the name of Philip Lloyd-Greame at birth.1 He was educated at Winchester College, Winchester, Hampshire, England.1 He graduated from University College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, in 1905 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)1 He was admitted to Inner Temple in 1908 entitled to practise as a barrister.1 He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in dispatches.1 He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.)1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Conservative) for Hendon between 1918 and 1935.1 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the British Empire (K.B.E.) in 1920.1 He held the office of Parliamentary Secretary, Board of Trade between 1920 and 1921.1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) in 1922.1 He held the office of President, Board of Trade between 1922 and 1924.1 He held the office of President, Board of Trade between November 1924 and June 1929.1 After his marriage, Philip Cunliffe-Lister, 1st Earl of Swinton was styled as Philip Cunliffe-Lister by Royal Licence on 27 November 1924.1 He was appointed Knight Grand Cross, Order of the British Empire (G.B.E.) in 1929.1 He held the office of President, Board of Trade between August 1931 and November 1931.1 He held the office of Secretary of State, Colonies between November 1931 and June 1935.1 He held the office of Secretary of State, Air between June 1935 and May 1938.1 He was created 1st Viscount Swinton, of Masham, co. York [U.K.] on 29 November 1935.1 He held the office of Minister Resident, North Africa between 1942 and 1944.1 He was awarded the Companion of Honour (C.H.) in 1943.1 He held the office of Minister of Civil Aviation between 1944 and 1945.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of the North Riding, Yorkshire in 1948.1 He held the office of Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster between 1951 and 1952.1 He held the office of Minister of Materials between 1951 and 1952.1 He held the office of Deputy Speaker, House of Lords between 1952 and 1955.1 He held the office of Secretary of State, Commonwealth Relations between 1952 and 1955.1 He was created 1st Baron Masham, of Ellington, co. Mary Constance Boynton1 

Mary Constance Boynton was the daughter of Reverend Charles Ingram William Boynton and Hon. Mary Ewbank Cunliffe-Lister.1 She married Philip Cunliffe-Lister, 1st Earl of Swinton, son of Lt.-Col. Yarburgh George Lloyd-Greame and Dora Letitia O’Brien, on 5 September 1912.1 She died on 27 September 1974.1
From 5 September 1912, her married name became Cunliffe-Lister.1 After her marriage, Mary Constance Boynton was styled as Viscountess Swinton on 29 November 1935. She held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for the North Riding, Yorkshire in 1948.1 After her marriage, Mary Constance Boynton was styled as Countess of Swinton on 5 May 1955.

Gilbert Grierson, 1st of Lag1 
On 6 December 1408 he was granted the lands of Lag by Henry, 2nd Earl of Orkney, in exchange for an annual gift of a pair of gold spurs to be given to the Earl at Dumfries Castle.1 In 1410 he was granted the lands of Drumjoan by Archibald, 4th Earl of Douglas.1 Before 1418 he was granted the lands of Airde, Tyrcome, Overholm, Netherholm and Dalgarnock by charter from the 9th Earl of Dunbar.1
