Sir Samuel Romilly1

Sir Samuel Romilly was born on 1 March 1757.1 He was the son of Peter Romilly and Margaret Garnault.1 He married Anne Garbett, daughter of Francis Garbett and Elizabeth Walsham, on 3 January 1798.1 He died on 2 November 1818 at age 61, by cutting his own throat, after the death of his wife.1
He was a practising barrister-at-law in 1783.1 He wrote the book Thoughts on Executive Justice, published 1786 (ASIN: B00AI6VLOK.)3 He was appointed King’s Counsel (K.C.) in 1800.3 He held the office of Solicitor-General in 1806.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Queenborough from 1806 to 1807.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Horsham from 1807 to 1808.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Wareham between 1808 and 1812.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Arundel between 1812 and 1818.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Westminster in 1818.1
