     Sir John Swinton of that Ilk was the son of Sir John de Swinton of that Ilk and Lady Margaret Stewart.1,2 He married Lady Marjory Dunbar, daughter of George Dunbar, 10th Earl of Dunbar, circa 1423.1 He died on 17 August 1424, killed in action.1
     He fought in the Battle of Beaugé on 22 March 1420/21, where he rode down and killed Thomas, Duke of Clarence.1 He fought in the Battle of Verneuil on 17 August 1424.1
