Merlin Sereld Victor Gilbert Hay, 24th Earl of Erroll1

Merlin Sereld Victor Gilbert Hay, 24th Earl of Erroll was born on 20 April 1948.1 He is the son of Sir Rupert Iain Kay Moncreiffe of that Ilk, 11th Bt. and Diana Denyse Hay, Countess of Erroll.1 He married Isabelle Jacqueline Laline Astell, daughter of Major Thomas Sidney Astell and Julie Marie Isabelle Jeanne Jacqueline de Jouffroy, on 8 May 1982 at Winchester Cathedral, Winchester, Hampshire, EnglandG.1
He was Page to Lord Lyon King of Arms in 1956.1 He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 He gained the rank of Rifleman (and parachutist) in 1966 in the Queen’s Royal Rifles.1 He was educated at Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, EnglandG.1 He was appointed Officer, Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem (O.St.J.) in 1977.1 He was a Hereditary Lord Assessor of the Court of Lord Lyon King of Arm.1 He held the position of 33rd Chief of the Name and Arms of Hay from in 1978.1 He succeeded as the 25th Lord Hay [S., 1430] on 17 May 1978.3 He succeeded as the 24th Earl of Erroll [S., 1452] on 17 May 1978.1 He held the office of Hereditary Lord High Constable of Scotland on 17 May 1978, 28th.1 He succeeded as the 12th Baronet Moncreiffe [N.S., 1685] on 27 February 1985.1 He was admitted to the Royal Company of Archers.1 He gained the rank of Honorary Colonel between 1992 and 1997 in the R.M.P.T.A.1 He held the office of Elected Member of the House of Lords in 1999.1 He lived in 2003 at Woodbury Hall, Sandy, Bedfordshire, EnglandG.1

Isabelle Jacqueline Laline Astell1 
She was given the name of Isabelle Hohler at birth.3 From 8 May 1982, her married name became Hay. After her marriage, Isabelle Jacqueline Laline Astell was styled as Countess of Erroll on 8 May 1982.
