David Montagu Erskine, 2nd Baron Erskine of Restormel Castle1 
He was educated between 1787 and 1792 at Winchester College, Winchester, Hampshire, EnglandG.1 He graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, EnglandG, in 1797 with a Master of Arts (M.A.)2 He was admitted to Lincoln’s Inn in 1802 entitled to practise as a barrister.1 He was Envoy to Washington between 1806 and 1810.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Whig) for Portsmouth between February 1806 and October 1806.1 He succeeded as the 2nd Baron Erskine of Restormel Castle, co. Cornwall [U.K., 1806] on 17 November 1823.3 He was Envoy to Stuttgart between 1824 and 1828.1 He was Envoy to Munich between 1828 and 1843.1 He has an extensive biographical entry in the Dictionary of National Biography.4
