Admiral William Henry Dudley Boyle, 12th Earl of Cork1 

Admiral William Henry Dudley Boyle, 12th Earl of Cork was born on 30 November 1873.1 He was the son of Colonel Gerald Edmund Boyle and Lady Elizabeth Theresa Pepys.1 He married Lady Florence Cecilia Keppel, daughter of William Coutts Keppel, 7th Earl of Albemarle and Sophia Mary MacNab, on 24 July 1902.3 He died on 19 April 1967 at age 93, without issue.1
He was Naval Attaché to Rome between 1913 and 1915.4 He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in despatches three times.4 He was awarded the Order of the Nile of Egypt 3rd Class.4 He was awarded the Order of El Nahda of the Hedijaz 2nd Class.4 He was awarded the Commander, Order of St. Maurice and St. Lazarus of Italy.4 He was awarded the Grand-Croix, Ordre national de la Légion d’honneur.4 He was awarded the Croix de Guerre avec Palme.4 He held the office of Aide-de-Camp to HM King George V in 1922.4 He gained the rank of Rear-Admiral in 1924 in the 2nd Battle Squadron, Atlantic Fleet.4 He was Rear-Admiral of the 1st Cruiser Squadron between 1926 and 1928.4 He was Vice-Admiral of the Reserve Fleet in 1928.4 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the Bath (K.C.B.) in 1931.4 He gained the rank of Admiral in 1932.4 He succeeded as the 12th Viscount Boyle of Kinalmeaky, co. Cork [I., 1628] on 13 October 1934.1 He succeeded as the 12th Baron of Bandon Bridge, co. Cork [I., 1628] on 13 October 1934.1 He succeeded as the 12th Earl of the County of Cork [I., 1620] on 13 October 1934.1 He succeeded as the 9th Baron Boyle of Marston, co. Somerset [G.B., 1711] on 13 October 1934.5 He succeeded as the 12th Earl of Orrery [I., 1660] on 13 October 1934.5 He succeeded as the 13th Viscount of Dungarvan co. Waterford [I., 1620] on 13 October 1934.1 He succeeded as the 12th Lord Boyle, Baron of Youghal, co. Cork [I., 1616] on 13 October 1934.1 He succeeded as the 12th Lord Boyle, Baron of Broghill [I., 1628] on 13 October 1934.5 He was appointed Knight Grand Cross, Royal Victorian Order (G.C.V.O.) in 1935.4 He was appointed Knight Grand Cross, Order of the Bath (G.C.B.) in 1936.4 He was First and Principal Naval Aide-de-Camp to HM King Edward VIII and HM King George VI between 1936 and 1938.4 He gained the rank of Admiral of the Fleet on 21 January 1938.4 He fought in the Second World War between 1939 and 1940, where he commanded the expedition to Narvik.4 He was awarded the Grand Cross, Order of St. Olav of Norway.4 He has an extensive biographical entry in the Dictionary of National Biography.6
