Loris Antonella Thomasa Newland was born on 8 September 1922.4 She was the daughter of Maj.-Gen. Sir Foster Reuss Newland and Donna Nennella Salazar.1,2 She married Peter Francis Walter Kerr, 12th Marquess of Lothian, son of Captain Andrew William Kerr and Marie Constance Annabel Kerr, on 30 April 1943 at Brompton Oratory, Brompton, London, EnglandG.4 She died on 6 January 2007 at age 84.4
From 30 April 1943, her married name became Kerr. After her marriage, Loris Antonella Thomasa Newland was styled as Marchioness of Lothian on 30 April 1943. She was a columnist for the Scottish Daily Express between 1960 and 1975.4 She was founder and president of Woman of the Year Lunch.4 She was appointed Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 1997.1 She was appointed Dame, Order of St. Gregory in 2002.4
