     Thomas Hay was born illegitimately circa 1517/18.1 He was the son of James Hay.1 He married, firstly, Isobel Kennedy before April 1572.1 He married, secondly, Katharine Kennedy, daughter of David Kennedy of Culzean, before 1579.1 He died circa 1579/80.1
     He was brought up by his cousin Alexander, of Delgaty, but not having been legitimated could not inherit Delgaty.1 He was the Parson at Spynie, Morayshire, ScotlandG.1 He held the office of Canon of Moray before 1539.1 He was Secretary to Mary, Queen of Scots.1 He was Abbot of Glenluce in 1560.1
