Lady Georgiana Spencer was born on 7 June 1757.1 She was the daughter of John Spencer, 1st Earl Spencer and Margaret Georgiana Poyntz.1,4 She was baptised on 12 July 1757 at Wimbledon, London, EnglandG. She married William Cavendish, 5th Duke of Devonshire, son of William Cavendish, 4th Duke of Devonshire and Charlotte Elizabeth Boyle, Baroness Clifford, on 5 June 1774.5 She died on 30 March 1806 at age 48 from an abscess of the liver.5 She was buried at All Saints Church, Derby, Derbyshire, EnglandG.
From 5 June 1774, her married name became Cavendish. After her marriage, Lady Georgiana Spencer was styled as Duchess of Devonshire on 5 June 1774. She has an extensive biographical entry in the Dictionary of National Biography.6

William Cavendish, 5th Duke of Devonshire was born on 14 December 1748.1 He was the son of William Cavendish, 4th Duke of Devonshire and Charlotte Elizabeth Boyle, Baroness Clifford.1 He married, firstly, Lady Georgiana Spencer, daughter of John Spencer, 1st Earl Spencer and Margaret Georgiana Poyntz, on 5 June 1774.3 He married, secondly, Lady Elizabeth Christiana Hervey, daughter of Rt. Rev. Frederick Augustus Hervey, 4th Earl of Bristol and Elizabeth Davers, on 19 October 1809.4 He died on 29 July 1811 at age 62.1
He succeeded as the 7th Lord Clifford [E., 1628] on 24 December 1754.1 He succeeded as the 8th Baron Cavendish of Hardwick, co. Derby [E., 1605] on 2 October 1764.4 He succeeded as the 8th Earl of Devonshire [E., 1618] on 2 October 1764.4 He succeeded as the 5th Duke of Devonshire [E., 1694] on 2 October 1764.4 He succeeded as the 5th Marquess of Hartington, co. Derby [E., 1605] on 29 July 1811.5 He succeeded as the 9th Earl of Devonshire [E., 1618] on 29 July 1811.5 He succeeded as the 6th Marquess of Hartington, co.
