Edith Villiers was the daughter of Hon. Edward Ernest Villiers and Hon. Elizabeth Charlotte Liddell.1 She married Edward Robert Bulwer-Lytton, 1st Earl of Lytton, son of Edward George Bulwer-Lytton, 1st Baron Lytton of Knebworth and Rosina Doyle Wheeler, on 4 October 1864.3 She died on 17 September 1936.3
Her married name became Bulwer-Lytton. After her marriage, Edith Villiers was styled as Baroness Lytton of Knebworth on 18 January 1873. After her marriage, Edith Villiers was styled as Countess of Lytton on 28 April 1880. She held the office of Lady Bedchamber to HM Queen Victoria.3 She was awarded the Lady, Royal Order of Victoria and Albert (V.A.)3 She was appointed Imperial Order of the Crown of India (C.I.)3 She held the office of Lady Bedchamber to HM Queen Alexandra.3
