Anastasia Mikhailovna de Torby, Countess de Torby was born on 9 September 1892 at Wiesbaden, Hessen, GermanyG.3 She was the daughter of Mikhail Mikhailovich Romanov, Grand Duke of Russia and Sophie Nikolaievna von Merenberg, Countess de Torbay.1 She married Maj.-Gen. Sir Harold Augustus Wernher, 3rd Bt., son of Sir Julius Charles Wernher, 1st Bt. and Alice Sedgwick Mankiewicz, on 20 July 1917 at London, EnglandG.3 She died in 1977.
She gained the title of Countess de Torby.1 Anastasia Mikhailovna de Torby, Countess de Torby also went by the nick-name of Zia. From 1 September 1917, her married name became Wernher.4 She was appointed Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.)5
