Sophie Nikolaievna von Merenberg, Countess de Torbay was born on 1 June 1868. She was the daughter of Nikolaus Wilhelm Prinz von Nassau-Weilburg and Nataliya Aleksandrovna Pushkina, Gräfin von Merenberg.3 She married Mikhail Mikhailovich Romanov, Grand Duke of Russia, son of Mikhail Nikolaievich Romanov, Grand Duke of Russia and Cäcilie Olga Prinzessin von Baden, on 10 March 1891 [26 Feb 1891 O.S.] at San Remo, ItalyG, in a morganatic marriage.4 She died on 14 September 1927 at age 59 at London, EnglandG.4
She gained the title of Gräfin von Merenberg.3 She was created Countess de Torbay.1
