Alexander Henry Edwardstone Boileau was born on 3 February 1807 at Calcutta, Bengal, India.¹ He was the son of Thomas Boileau and Leah Jessop.¹ He was baptised on 13 February 1807 at Calcutta, Bengal, India.¹ He married Matilda Grace Tovey, daughter of Alexander Tovey, on 5 September 1850 at St. John, Paignton, Devon, England.¹ He died on 30 June 1862 at age 55 at Cawnpore, India.¹
     He gained the rank of Major-General in 1861 in the Royal Engineers (Bengal.)¹
