Richard Wyndham Malet was born on 7 January 1923.1 He was the son of Lt.-Col. Alexander Wyndham Malet and Kathleen Betty Cadell.2 He married Judith Winifred Ferguson McEwen, daughter of David McEwen, on 25 February 1956.1 He died in August 1996 at age 73 at Leominster, Herefordshire, England.3
He was educated at St. Edward’s School, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England.1 He fought in the Second World War, in Burma and Java.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the Indian Army.1 He was a manager of tea estates in India and Africa between 1947 and 1960.1 He was management advisory officer for the Council for Small Industries in Rural Areas.1
