     Murray Edward Gordon Finch-Hatton, 12th Earl of Winchilsea was born on 28 March 1851.¹ He was the son of George William Finch-Hatton, 10th Earl of Winchilsea and Frances Margaretta Rice.¹ He married Edith Harcourt, daughter of Edward William Harcourt and Lady Susan Harriet Holroyd, on 27 October 1875.² He died on 7 September 1898 at age 47.¹
     He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.¹ He was educated at Balliol College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England.¹ He held the office of Sheriff of lincolnshire in 1879.¹ He was appointed Knight of Justice Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem (K.J.St.J.)² He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Conservative) for South Lincolnshire from 1884 to 1885.² He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Conservative) for Spalding between 1885 and 1887.² He succeeded as the 7th Earl of Nottingham [E., 1681] on 9 June 1887.¹ He succeeded as the 12th Earl of Winchilsea [E., 1556] on 9 June 1887.¹ He succeeded as the 7th Baron Finch of Daventry, co. Northampton [E., 1674] on 9 June 1887.¹ He succeeded as the 13th Baronet Finch, of Eastwell, Kent [E., 1611] on 9 June 1887.¹ He succeeded as the 12th Viscount of Maidstone [E., 1623] on 9 June 1887.¹ He succeeded as the 7th Baronet Finch [E., 1660] on 9 June 1887.¹ He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Lincolnshire.¹

     Henry Stormont Finch-Hatton, 13th Earl of Winchilsea was born on 3 November 1852.¹ He was the son of George William Finch-Hatton, 10th Earl of Winchilsea and Frances Margaretta Rice.² He married Anne Jane Codrington, daughter of Admiral Sir Henry John Codrington and Helen Jane Smith, on 12 January 1882.² He died on 14 August 1927 at age 74.¹
     He succeeded as the 14th Baronet Finch, of Eastwell, Kent [E., 1611] on 7 September 1898.² He succeeded as the 13th Viscount of Maidstone [E., 1623] on 7 September 1898.² He succeeded as the 8th Earl of Nottingham [E., 1681] on 7 September 1898.² He succeeded as the 13th Earl of Winchilsea [E., 1556] on 7 September 1898.² He succeeded as the 8th Baronet Finch [E., 1660] on 7 September 1898.² He succeeded as the 8th Baron Finch of Daventry, co. Northampton [E., 1681] on 7 September 1898.²

     Edith Harcourt was the daughter of Edward William Harcourt and Lady Susan Harriet Holroyd.¹ She married Murray Edward Gordon Finch-Hatton, 12th Earl of Winchilsea, son of George William Finch-Hatton, 10th Earl of Winchilsea and Frances Margaretta Rice, on 27 October 1875.¹ She died on 6 January 1944.^1,2
     Her married name became Finch-Hatton. After her marriage, Edith Harcourt was styled as Countess of Winchilsea on 9 June 1887.

     Reverend William Harcourt was born in June 1789.¹ He was the son of Most Rev. and Rt. Hon. Edward Vernon-Harcourt and Lady Anne Leveson-Gower.¹ He married Matilda Mary Gooch, daughter of Lt.-Col. William Gooch and Jane Wilkinson, on 11 July 1814.² He was also reported to have been married on 11 July 1824.¹ He died on 1 April 1871 at age 81.¹
     He was given the name of William Venables-Vernon at birth. On 15 January 1831 his name was legally changed to William Vernon-Harcourt.¹ He was Secretary then President of British Association.¹ His name was legally changed to William Harcourt.¹ He held the office of Canon of York.¹

     Edward William Harcourt was born on 26 June 1825.¹ He was the son of Reverend William Harcourt and Matilda Mary Gooch.² He married Lady Susan Harriet Holroyd, daughter of George Augustus Frederick Charles Holroyd, 2nd Earl of Sheffield and Lady Harriett Lascelles, on 26 June 1849.² He died on 19 December 1891 at age 66.¹
     He wrote the book Sketch of Madeira, published 1851.¹ He wrote the book Sporting in Algeria, published 1859.¹ He was a naturalist.¹ He lived in 1871 at Nuneham Courtenay, Oxfordshire, England^G.¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Oxfordshire between 1878 and 1885.¹ He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.)² He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Henley between 1885 and 1886.¹ He lived at Stanton Harcourt, Oxfordshire, England^G.²

     Matilda Mary Gooch was the daughter of Lt.-Col. William Gooch and Jane Wilkinson.² She married Reverend William Harcourt, son of Most Rev. and Rt. Hon. Edward Vernon-Harcourt and Lady Anne Leveson-Gower, on 11 July 1814.¹ She was also reported to have been married on 11 July 1824.² She died on 19 November 1876.²
     From 11 July 1814, her married name became Vernon.

     Lt.-Col. William Gooch was born on 11 December 1769.¹ He was the son of Sir Thomas Gooch, 4th Bt. and Anna Maria Hayward.² He married Jane Wilkinson, daughter of James Wilkinson, in December 1797.¹ He died on 14 October 1851 at age 81.¹
     He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel.¹

     Lady Susan Harriet Holroyd was the daughter of George Augustus Frederick Charles Holroyd, 2nd Earl of Sheffield and Lady Harriett Lascelles.¹ She married Edward William Harcourt, son of Reverend William Harcourt and Matilda Mary Gooch, on 26 June 1849.² She died on 5 April 1894.²
     Her married name became Harcourt.

     Aubrey Harcourt was born on 16 August 1852.¹ He was the son of Edward William Harcourt and Lady Susan Harriet Holroyd.¹ He died on 22 March 1904 at age 51, unmarried.¹
     He held the office of High Sheriff of Oxfordshire in 1894.¹ He held the office of High Sheriff of Oxfordshire in 1897.¹ He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Oxfordshire.¹ He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Oxfordshire.¹ He lived at Nuneham Park, Oxfordshire, England.¹ He lived at Stanton Harcourt, Oxfordshire, England^G.¹

     Captain Richard Charles Meade, Lord Gillford was born on 10 June 1868.¹ He was the son of Admiral Richard James Meade, 4th Earl of Clanwilliam and Elizabeth Henrietta Kennedy.¹ He married Lady Mary Elizabeth Margaret Douglas-Home, daughter of Charles Alexander Douglas-Home, 12th Earl of Home and Maria Grey, on 5 September 1895 at Douglas Castle, Lanarkshire, Scotland^G.¹ He died on 14 October 1905 at age 37 at Whelprigg, Kirkby Lonsdale, Westmorland, England^G, from consumption.¹ He was buried on 19 October 1905 at Torpenhow, Aspatria, Cumberland, England^G.¹
     He was styled as Lord Gillford between 1879 and 1905.¹ He was commissioned in 1881, in the service of the Royal Navy.¹ He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the Royal Navy.² He gained the rank of Captain in the 3rd Volunteer Battalion, (Cumberland) the Border Regiment.²
