     He lived at Newliston, Linlithgow, ScotlandG.4

He married Lady Margaret Pleydell-Bouverie, daughter of Jacob Pleydell-Bouverie, 4th Earl of Radnor and Lady Mary Augusta Frederica Grimston, on 29 October 1873.1 He died on 2 January 1907 at age 65.1
     He was given the name of David Maitland Makgill Crichton at birth.1 In 1884 his name was legally changed to David Makgill Crichton Maitland.1 He gained the rank of Major-General in the Grenadier Guards.1
