     Olive Crofton Schneider was the daughter of John Henry Augustus Schneider and Mary Elizabeth Crofton.¹ She married General Sir Horace Lockwood Smith-Dorrien, son of Robert Algernon Smith-Dorrien and Mary Ann Drever, on 3 September 1902.² She died on 15 September 1951.²
     From 3 September 1902, her married name became Smith-Dorrien. She was appointed Dame Commander, Order of the British Empire (D.B.E.) in 1916.²
