Sir Robert Laurie of Maxwelton, 1st Bt.1 
He was also known as Robert Lawrie.3 He was appointed Knight on 21 March 1685 by King James II.2 He was created 1st Baronet Laurie, of Maxwelton, co. Dumfries [Nova Scotia] on 27 March 1685.1 He lived at Maxwelton, ScotlandG.3

He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Dumfries Sheriffdom [Scotland] in 1643.3 He was a Covenanter, and was fined £3,600 for non-conformity.4 He lived at Maxwelton, Dumfries-shire, ScotlandG.3 He had four younger sons and two daughters.4
