Sir John Edward Kynaston Studd, 1st Bt. was born on 26 July 1858 at Netheravon, Wiltshire, England.3 He was the son of Edward Studd and Dorothy Sophia Thomas.4 He married, firstly, Hilda Proctor-Beauchamp, daughter of Sir Thomas William Brograve Proctor-Beauchamp, 4th Bt. and Hon. Catherine Esther Waldegrave, on 10 December 1884.4 He married, secondly, Princess Alexandra Lieven, daughter of Prince Paul Lieven and Nathalie von der Pahlen, on 18 June 1924.3 He died on 14 January 1944 at age 85.3
